Jordan sold the mansion
61-year-old legendary basketball player and six-time National Basketball Association (NBA) champion Michael Jordan has finally sold his Chicago mansion, which he put on the market in 2012.
In 2012, Michael set the price tag on his home at $29 million, but then gradually lowered the price of the mansion due to the lack of interest from potential buyers. In early 2013, he lowered the asking price to $21 million, and then to $16 million in late 2013. In late 2013, he even held an auction with a starting price of $13 million, which was unsuccessful, as it turned out that no buyer anywhere was willing to pay that kind of money for it.
Ultimately, the Chicago Tribune reports, Jordan's 8.4-acre Highland Park mansion was purchased for $9.5 million, well below his last asking price of $14.855 million. That price tag is roughly equivalent to the contracts of three Chicago Bulls stars in the 1997-98 season: Toni Kukoc and Ron Harper, each worth $4.56 million.
