Argentine pilot Franco Colapinto has become a combat driver for Alpine. This was reported by the press service of the French team. In the racing team, he replaced Australian Jack Doohan. Franco's contract is for five races.
Recall that at the completed Miami Grand Prix, Doohan retired from the race after a collision at the start in the first turn with New Zealander Liam Lawson, representing Racing Bulls.
Earlier, Alpine's director Oliver Oakes left its position, and his duties were taken over by Flavio Briatore, who is the executive adviser to the team and is in charge of Colapinto's career.
At the moment, the French team occupies ninth place in the Constructors' Cup, having seven points to its credit.
