On the night of May 28-29 Moscow time, the fifth game of the Stanley Cup semifinal series between the Eastern Conference clubs Carolina Hurricanes and Florida Panthers ended on the ice of the Lenovo Center arena in Raleigh (USA, North Carolina). The visitors won with a score of 5:3 and won the series with a score of 4-1 (5:2, 5:0, 6:2, 0:3, 5:3). Florida reached the Stanley Cup finals, Carolina completed the 2024/2025 season.

In the second semifinal, the Edmonton Oilers are leading the Dallas Stars with a score of 3-1. The fifth game of the series is scheduled for the night of May 30. If the Oilers win the fifth game and reach the final, the decisive series of the Stanley Cup will begin on June 4. If Edmonton fails to win tomorrow, the final series will begin on June 7.

If Edmonton advances to the final, it will be only the third time since the NHL expanded to 21 teams (the last 45 seasons) that the Stanley Cup Final lineup has been the same. The previous two were in 1983 and 1984 (New York Islanders and Edmonton Oilers) and in 2008 and 2009 (Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Red Wings).

Last season, Florida defeated Edmonton in seven games in the Stanley Cup Final.
