Why Juventus Refused to Let Weah Go

Midfielder Timothy Weah is staying in Turin — his transfer to Marseille will not take place. Previously, the parties discussed a loan with a mandatory buyout for €12-15 million, however, as Tuttosport reports, Juventus rejected the offer from the French.

The Turin club was not satisfied with the terms of the deal: the buyout obligation turned out to be too difficult to fulfill and did not guarantee a full sale of the player. Weah's agent Badou Sambagué arrived in Turin to clarify the situation.

In addition to Marseille, three clubs from the Premier League and one Ligue 1 team are also interested in the American. Juventus values the player at €18-20 million.

Last season, Weah played 42 matches for the Bianconeri, scored six goals and made five assists. His market value, according to Transfermarkt, is €17 million.
