Why isn't Vinicius in the starting lineup?
Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso has spoken about why Madrid forward Vinicius Junior was left on the bench in the first round of the Champions League overall stage match against French Marseille (2:1).
“We are in a tense period of the calendar, and we need all the players. Everyone will have their time, and the main thing is that everyone feels ready and important, because they are and will remain so throughout the season. Now is not the time to talk about whether there were personal conversations. They remain in the locker room. No one should feel insulted because they are not playing. We need everyone. Substitutions this season have had a very good effect, and it’s not that only those who start are important. Football is moving in a different direction,” Real Madrid’s official website quotes Alonso as saying.
Recall that the Madrid club will play its next match away against Kazakhstan’s Kairat on September 30.
